The STAAR is a test given to students from third grade all the way to 11th grade, and it has been around for about 14 years. Each test focuses on English, Math or Science.
“I feel like the purpose of the STAAR test is so that students can show how smart they are and see if they are prepared for the next grade,” junior Race Stoner said.
The STAAR tests given in high school are Biology, Algebra I and English I during freshman year, English II during sophomore year and US History during junior year.
After this school year, the STAAR test will be implemented in a different way. It will instead be given as three different tests throughout the year, instead of taking one big test.
“When I heard we had to take three tests I kinda wanted them to make it like normal,” junior Lucas Starr said.
