Annual Fall Food Drive, October 27 – November 7

Students are encouraged to help make a difference in our community by bringing non-perishable food items and helping to “fill the red bag” in their classroom during our annual Fall Food Drive, October 27 through November 7. All donations will benefit local families in need through the First Melissa Christmas Angel Program and the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry. As an added incentive, the homeroom class (or advisory class at the secondary level) at each campus that collects the most items will win a special “Breakfast with Birdie.”

Additionally, community members are encouraged to join in the Food Drive by bringing nonperishable or canned items to “Fill the Bus” on Friday, Nov. 7, at the varsity football game. For a list of suggested donation items, please refer to the flyer.

2026-2027 Academic Calendar Now Available

The Melissa ISD academic calendar for the 2026-2027 school year, as recommended by the District Site-Based Decision Committee, has been approved by the Melissa Schools Board of Trustees. Each year, the calendar is re-evaluated and adjusted depending on the dates of certain national holidays, state testing days, graduation dates, and Collin College instruction schedules, as well as required professional learning days for teachers. The District Site-Based Decision Committee, made up of teachers, administrators, parents, and community members, carefully creates the calendar after taking these parameters and numerous other needs and suggestions into consideration. Academic Celebration Dec. 19

The MHS Cardinal Academic Celebration is a way of rewarding students for their excellence in the classroom! Students who have shown outstanding academic achievement in school will be treated to a special celebration. This event will be held twice a year in December and May.
