As a reminder, Friday, March 13, will be a Staff Development Day, and there will be no school for students. Melissa ISD will then be closed for Spring Break, March 16-20. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, March 23.
Baseball & Softball ‘Meet the Cardinals’ Event | March 13
Join us for Meet the Cardinals Night on Friday, March 13, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Melissa Z-Plex as we celebrate the Melissa High School Baseball and Softball teams. Enjoy games, concessions, spirit wear, and the chance for young fans to meet players and coaches, take photos, and collect autographs. Fans are encouraged to stay after to cheer on our MHS Varsity Baseball and Softball teams at their home games later that night. Softball takes on Denison at 6:45 p.m. and Baseball plays Greenville at 7:30 p.m. Students receive free admission with a paid parent or guardian. Melissa High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program has 28 talented students who are heading to the SkillsUSA State Conference! The MHS students represented Melissa by competing in the SkillsUSA District Conference on Friday, February 27. They competed across various chapters and advanced to state in Applied Engineering, Career Path Business Management, Community Action Project, Cyber Security, Engineering Tech, Entrepreneurship, Extemporaneous Speaking, Health Occupations Portfolio, Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Pin Design, Principles of Engineering, Related Tech Math, and Tech Computer Applications. Girls Powerlifting Team Headed to State
Congratulations to the Melissa High School Girls Powerlifting Team on their strong performance at the THSWPA Regional Meet on February 26! The Girls Team placed 2nd overall, with two athletes, Malia Griffin and Olivianna Robertson, coming home as Regional Champion Runner-Ups and securing their bids to the State Meet on March 21, at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg. The Melissa High School Ruby Belles Dance Team was named Classic Medium Team State Champions at the Centennial Crowd Pleasers Dance State Championship on February 28. In their first competition season, the team earned Best in Class Lyrical, Best in Class Jazz, and 1st Runner-Up Pom on their way to winning their division and bringing home a state title for Melissa. The championship performance capped off an incredible inaugural season for the Ruby Belles. Earlier in the year, the team also earned multiple awards at their first-ever competition as a program.
