The Cardinals had a big game Friday night, Oct. 18, for the annual Pink Out event at Cardinal Stadium. They faced the Celina Bobcats, who were in first place in 4A-1 Region II, District 7, and defeated them 29-17.

Celina was leading district play with a 3-0 record. Melissa and Argyle were both tied for second place each with 2-0 records.

Argyle also won Friday night, so now Melissa and Argyle are both tied for the top spot in the district with 3-0 records. This Friday night, Oct. 25, will be the deciding factor in who claims first place outright as the Cardinals travel to Argyle.

Previously, the Cardinals defeated Paris on the road with a big victory 54-46 in their district opener. Their “bye” week was October 4, and then the Cardinals had another big win 40-7 over the Anna Coyotes in Anna.

The Cardinals finished pre-season 2-2 with wins over Whitehouse and Liberty Christian and losses to Trinity Christian and Frisco. Their overall season record is currently 5-2. For more information about the Cardinals or high school football, visit maxpreps.com.
