Canned Food Drive: Cardinals encouraged to contribute

Annabelle Brown, Writer

The Fall 2019 Canned Food Drive, helping the Melissa Community Outreach Food Pantry and the Christmas Angel Program, aims to improve the lives of those who are in need.

The Interact Club is sponsoring the high school food drive again this year. Each third period class is collecting goods Nov. 11-21, and the class that donates the most will win a pizza party, Interact Club sponsor Lisa Hall said.

Parents can also stop by the office to drop off canned foods during the donation window.

This event brings youth together across the country, all the while helping other families not go hungry over the holidays.

There are various ways this event is important to society. One of the main ways is that often shelters as well as food banks are not always able to provide what the people need, which is why donating goods can help increase stock and supply, giving more to those who are less fortunate.

Specifically, the Melissa Community Outreach is in need of boxed cereal. Jelly and mac-and-cheese are needed, as well.
