On Nov. 10, the varsity boys cross country team and one varsity girl competed at the 4A regional meet held at Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas. All runners secured themselves a place at the state meet, which will be held Nov. 24 in Round Rock.

On the boys team, senior Judson Greer came in first place and senior Lucas Tauch finished second.

Because of their hard work and the rest of the runners, the team won first by 34 points.

Sophomore Abigail Bass finished in fifth place at regionals with a time of 11:35; therefore, earning a place at state.

“I’ll continue to work hard and, most importantly, focus on recovering for the state meet,” Bass said.

The team will continue to train and prepare for the championship. This year will mark the sixth year in a row that the boys cross country team has made it to state.

Runners have high hopes for the state meet and even hope to win the whole competition.

“My plan is to place in the top three individual positions, and lead our team to win the state title,” Tauch said.

The team is now gearing up for the race so they can perform the best they can.

“I will mentally prepare myself and go in with a plan of attack,” senior Alex Branscome said.

Come and support the runners in Round Rock on Nov. 24 if you can. Go, Cards!!!
