After the opening of the new Melissa Arts Center (MAC) with Curtains, Melissa Theatre shifted gears into their one-act play season. So far, they have dominated at both District and Bi-District UIL competitions with their rendition of Arabian Nights, placing first both times, advancing to regionals, and earning the multiple individual awards listed below:

DISTRICT AWARDS

  • Outstanding Technician: Emma Stern
  • All Star Cast: Logan Lowery
  • Best Performer: Thaddeus Baker
  • Best Performer: Mattie McGrady

BI-DISTRICT AWARDS

  • Outstanding Technician: Ella Nye
  • All Star Cast: Logan Lowery
  • All Star Cast: Mattie McGrady
  • Best Performer: Thaddeus Baker

Theatre will compete at the regional contest in Lindale on April 15 and hopes to end their OAP season at the state meet.

With theatre’s recent run of their musical Curtains, they will also compete for honors in the Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards. Nomination lists will be released May 3. According to lead director Megan Moore, they received great feedback from the judges for their Curtains performances.
