Cardinals of the Week: April 19-23

Melissa High School has started a new feature to honor students and faculty members that display our core values on a consistent basis. Each week one student and one staff member will be spotlighted and awarded a certificate and some treats. The staff member will also be presented with a “traveling trophy.”

Asst. Principal Stacy Needham presents the Student of the Week award to soph. Leighton Gutierrez.

This week’s Student Cardinal of the Week is sophomore Leighton Gutierrez.  She was nominated by Ms. Hawkins who had this to say:  “I’d like to nominate Leighton Gutierrez. She is a very hard working young lady in and out of the classroom. For athletic training she is always on time and communicates when she is going to be late or absent. Leighton also strives to do better by always asking questions when she isn’t understanding a task.”

Asst. Principal Stacy Needham presents the Teacher of the Week award to Coach Jacob Arvin, who teaches English.

Teacher of the Week goes to Coach Jacob Arvin. Jacob was selected for his ability to go above and beyond as a team player. He consistently covers his supervision and helps out during lunches. He takes the time to know his students in the classroom in order to recognize their needs. He is seen several nights during the week attending extra curricular activities cheering on the Cardinals.
