Girls varsity volleyball began the 2021 season with a crushing 3-0 win against Callisburg on Aug. 10 under new coaching staff.

Previous coach Frank DePaolo stepped down from coaching varsity volleyball, and new head Coach Chelsea Beal has taken his place. Joining Coach Beal are assistant coaches Jacob Arvin, Kalli Dishongh, and Rachael Van Horn.

With new coaches come new styles of management and coaching, and the players have been adjusting to the change.

“I do like her,” varsity player junior Rayanne Jones said. “It’s different, but I think it’s a good kind of different.”

Currently, with 19 wins and 12 losses, the varsity volleyball team is placed third out of seven in the district according to MaxPreps.

The final game of the regular season is scheduled for Oct. 26 against Gainesville before the postseason begins.

“I think we’re going to do really good,” Jones said. “And I think our team grew closer over the season, and I think we’re going to grow even closer during the playoffs.”
