In his first year playing varsity football for the MHS Cardinals as a sophomore, Lewis (#1) threw for nearly 1,000 yards and rushed for 641. When Lewis was a junior at MHS, he passed the ball for 2,524 yards, threw 34 touchdowns, rushed for 967 yards, and scored 11 touchdowns himself. (No online records were available for his senior year, 2019-2020.)

Graduating from high school early, in December 2019, Lewis headed to Colorado to begin spring training. Since the COVID pandemic gave all university-level athletes an extra year of eligibility, Lewis is still classified as a freshman and has now landed the starting quarterback position.

The CU Buffs, who are part of the PAC 12-South, have played four games in this current season, all of which Lewis has started. Unfortunately, the Buffs have only won their season opener against Northern Colorado so far.

During that first game of the season, Lewis completed 10 out of 15 passes, throwing for five touchdown passes.

Despite the losses, head coach Karl Dorrel said in one interview: “I think he’s going to have a big-time year, but he’s going to do some freshman things here and there….”
