The Cardinals are changing the way UIL 4A Division 1 Football is looking, especially with a huge district win over Argyle on Oct. 1, shutting them out for the first time in 15 years with a score of 21-0. Argyle had also not lost a district game since 2008.

During the entire match, Argyle only gained 208 yards, including rushing with 41 yards and four forced turnovers.

Before the game Melissa was ranked #8 in the state Division 4A-1 rankings and Argyle, the reigning state champs, were ranked #1. With this victory, Melissa jumped up to #4 and Argyle dropped to #2.

After having a week off, the Cardinals, who are now first in district with a record of 2-0 and an overall record of 4-2, hope to continue their winning streak over the Anna Coyotes on Oct. 15.
