Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown  recently caused quite the commotion following his meltdown on Sunday, January 2.

The 33-year-old wide receiver was seen stripping off his shoulder pads and tossing the pads and his jersey to the ground. He removed his shirt and gloves and tossed them onto the field soon after. He then proceeded to dash across the end zone while the two teams were still on the field, making his way to the locker room right after.

“It probably wasn’t necessary or professional,” replied Antonio Brown nine days later on Jan. 11 when asked about his actions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended up winning the game with a score of 28-24 against the New York Jets without Brown. Meanwhile, he was reported asking state troopers for a ride to the airport as he went through the tunnel. He was later seen driven off in a vehicle with chauffeur Danny Chalet. The player was then recorded mentioning an upcoming Netflix series of the events and even released a rap song before the end of the day.

“He is no longer a Buc,” Head Coach Bruce Arians said in the post-game interview in reference to the event. “Alright, that’s the end of the story. Let’s talk about the guys that went out there and won the game.”

Although reports were made claiming Brown left because he refused to play with an injured ankle, Brown himself confirmed the reasoning behind his actions on Friday, Jan. 7, with the Fullsend Podcast.

“Imagine the guys you came to battle with while you know your frickin ankle is [obscenity]. You barely can run. And the guy that you think got your back… They knew about my situation before we even came,” Brown said, confirming the reports that he claims he was injured. “I communicated with the coaches, the trainers — everyone knows… And the guy tells you because you can’t go to war with them, ‘Get the [obscenity] out of here.’ At that point, it’s like [obscenity] you too, bro, professionally.”

Head Coach Arians, who Brown referred to on the podcast as “the guy,” claimed differently a day before on Thursday, stating that they merely had a chat before Brown stormed off.

“It’s pretty obvious what happened. He left the field, and that was it,” Arians said. “We had a conversation, and he left the field.”

Arians also added that he was not informed of Brown’s injury and indicated that he would not allow the player to play injured.

“I don’t know that he was [injured],” Arians said.

Coach Arians did, however, acknowledge that he and Brown did discuss the injury that week, with the wide receiver not participating in practice on Thursday and Friday. Brown was, however, cleared to play the game on Saturday.

Antonio Brown was still listed on the roster of the Buccaneers until Thursday, in which he released text messages calling out Tom Brady, his trainer, and Bruce Arians. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers then officially removed Brown from the roster and released a public statement claiming he failed to comply with an evaluation.
