Senior Audrey Coulombe portrays Peter and junior Maisy Gustaveson stars as Tinker Bell in Melissa Theatre’s rendition of “The Lost Boy.” The UIL district one act play contest will be held March 5 at the Melissa Arts Center. The first play starts at 10 a.m. with Melissa performing at approximately 3:30 p.m.

  • Congratulations to girls powerlifting who sent nine athletes to the regional meet on Wed., March 2. Junior Sarah Hollenbeck placed third in her weight class, and junior Jasmine Thomas and soph. Lorelai Thompson both placed fifth in their weight classes.
  • Congratulations to seniors Logan Lowery and Mattie McGrady and junior Kyah Wells on qualifying for the National Speech & Debate Association’s tournament in Louisville, KY. Click here to read more.
  • Congratulations to the following choir students who earned a superior rating on their performances at the UIL Solo competition: Paris Church, Kaycee Fender (vocal solo and piano solo), John Goers, Maisy Gustaveson, Dax Laber, Logan Lowery, Hannah Luke, Keaton Melvin, Noelle Pletcher, Brandon Shadman, and Victoria Vargas.
  • Juniors: The SAT will be offered for FREE on campus on March 23. Click here to learn more. The deadline to register is March 16.
  • ATTN: Parents – You are invited to complete a survey to provide feedback to Melissa ISD regarding this 2021-22 school year. Click here to access the survey, which will close on March 18.
  • Now through March 18th, the Interact Club is collecting gently used or new pillow cases for their annual service project, Little Dresses for Africa. Students will earn Cardinal Spirit points for their grade level. Pillow cases should be dropped off in the box in front of room A316.
  • ATTN: Junior leaders – You are invited to apply for Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award), which is a nationally recognized, life-changing FREE summer camp opportunity. Visit their website for more details. The deadline to turn in your application to your counselor is Fri., March 18.
  • The Melissa Choirs would like to invite you to their Pre-UIL Concert in the Melissa Arts Center on Thurs., March 24 at 7:00 p.m. The choir concert will feature songs the students have prepared for the spring UIL contest season. Admission is FREE. We hope to see you there!
  • SENIORS: Are you applying for scholarships? Visit www.melissaisd.org/scholarships for a list of available scholarship opportunities reviewed by our counselors, including the Melissa Education Foundation general scholarship application, which closes March 25. To apply for MEF scholarships, students can either apply online or submit their completed application to Ms. Stephens (A210) or the administration office; check your email for the MEF checklist and application to print.
  • Transcripts are now posted in the Home Access Center (HAC). For assistance with the HAC and the steps to take to access student transcripts, visit the HAC Support page at www.melissaisd.org/hac.
  • Make-up Days: Monday, March 28, and Thursday, May 26 are Melissa ISD’s two Bad Weather Make-Up Days for the 2021-2022 school year. Students will have school both days to make up for the unexpected weather-related school closures that took place in February; this also means that the last day of school is May 26. Both of these make-up days will be Red Days for high school.
  • Prom will be held April 30 from 7-11 p.m. at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco. Prom is only open to MHS juniors and seniors and their guests. Ticket sales begin March 21. Click here to read more.
