Melissa Theatre performs “This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girls Does Nothing” by Finegan Kruckemeyer. They were previously named District and Bi-District Champs and will now advance to the Area Contest on April 10 at Tyler Junior College.

Cardinal Update

  • SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION: Click HERE to view Melissa ISD’s Viewing Information for the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8. If a student does NOT want to view the eclipse outdoors, then this Indoor Viewing Option Form must be completed by April 4.
  • PROM 2024: Junior & Senior Prom tickets are on sale for $75 now through April 12 during A Lunch in the Student Union. Click HERE for more information including the Dress Code and Guest Approval Form and link to purchase tickets online.
  • MHS MAGAZINE SUBMISSIONS: The brand new MHS Fine Arts Magazine is currently accepting submissions of short stories, poems, essays or any other forms of creative writing. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work to peers and the entire community of Melissa. All submissions are due by April 3. Click HERE to make a submission.
  • SENIORS: Cap and gown photos are now available to view and purchase through CADY Photography. The deadline to order to receive the items before graduation is April 4.
  • COLOR GUARD AUDITIONS: Students interested in trying out for Color Guard for next school year, auditions will be held April 15-17 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Band Hall. No experience is necessary! Questions? Email [email protected].
  • US HISTORY EOC EXAM REVIEW: Juniors received an email this past week containing lots of review material for the upcoming STAAR US History EOC Exam, which will be administered on April 22. Click HERE to access the review.
  • SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors should check the Scholarships web page frequently for opportunities for financial assistance for college.
  • 2024-25 COURSE REQUESTS: Students and guardians can now view course requests for the 2024-25 school year in HAC. Click here for more information. Students wanting to make a change must complete the MHS Course Change Request Form by May 10 at 4 p.m.
  • FINAL EXAMS: Spring semester exams will be given to 9th-11th grade students the last week of school, May 24-30. Click HERE for more information and the schedule.
  • IB INSIGHTS: The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) is coming in the fall of 2025! The current freshmen (Class of 2027) will be the first group that has the opportunity to experience this 2-year advanced academic program. Earning college credit, building a strong academic foundation, being open-minded and thinking about multiple perspectives are all hallmarks of this internationally-acclaimed program. The next informational meeting for interested parties is Tuesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at Melissa Middle School. All are welcome! Send any questions to [email protected]. 
The 4th floor teachers (AKA “The Sandlot”) dress up to celebrate pro baseball’s Opening Day on March 27.

Miranda Sirota is a senior this year at Melissa High School. This is her third year writing for the Cardinal Connection. Miranda is also involved in other extracurriculars including Band, HOSA, NHS, academic UIL, and Book Club. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, cooking, and binge-watching her favorite TV shows. After graduating, Miranda plans to study Dental Hygiene to become a registered hygienist.
