- HOSA BOOK DRIVE: The Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club is holding a book drive from March 4-8 to benefit the Children’s Medical Center of Plano. Donation boxes will be located in Mrs. Venner’s and Mrs. Fox’s classrooms, as well as in the library. All book donations must be appropriate for children and in good condition.
- SAT SCHOOL DAY: Juniors and seniors interested in taking the SAT for free on March 27 need to complete this Google Form by Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. Students do NOT need to register through College Board.
- ASVAB: MHS will host the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) on March 7. The ASVAB is not only for military use, but may be used for career exploration as well. The ASVAB is a standardized test that reveals areas of strength and ability in science, math and language, while also helping to predict future academic and occupational success. The deadline to register is March 1. Click HERE to complete the Google Form registration.
- LETTER JACKETS: Fittings for letter jackets will take place on Monday, March 25, during Mega Lunch. If students believe they qualify for a jacket, they should speak to their coach so the coach can submit their names.
- MHS MAGAZINE SUBMISSIONS: The brand new MHS Fine Arts Magazine is currently accepting submissions of short stories, poems, essays or any other forms of creative writing. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work to peers and the entire community of Melissa. All submissions are due by April 3. Click HERE to make a submission.
- SENIORS: Cap and gown photos are now available to view and purchase through CADY Photography. The deadline to order to receive the items before graduation is April 4.

Students will apply in the spring of 10th grade for this rigorous two-year curriculum. After taking six two-year courses and completing the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge course and a service component, they can earn a separate diploma from the MHS diploma. Texas Senate Bill 111 guarantees an IB Diploma recipient a minimum of 24 credit hours at all Texas public universities and colleges.
