Cardinal Band remains connected virtually

The Melissa Band found ways to stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Monday and Tuesday the band met in a “Mega Lunch Google Meet” to talk and just catch up with everyone. On Thursdays the band held Netflix parties to watch movies and to just have a fun time.

“It’s always nice to hang out with the directors and my fellow band members especially during this time,” one band member said. “It makes me feel like I’m not going through this alone.”

Even though the world came to a crawl and reached a low point, the band staff didn’t let that stop the band from being connected with one another.
The band held color guard auditions virtually. The leadership team held meetings virtually, and this year’s band banquet with an Aloha theme was held on May 15 virtually, as well.

The band recently announced their 2020 fall marching theme: RetroVision. The show will be about what people in the 1980s thought 2020 was going to look like! Hopefully, marching season will resume as normal in August as 2020 is a 4A UIL state advancing year.
