With fall around the corner, the golf team is already in full swing. With the school moving up in class to 5A, the competition will be tougher, but the Cardinal golfers are up for the challenge. Practices have already begun on the course and in the Championship Center to prepare for their tournament schedule.

Much like the rest of Melissa, the golf team continues to grow year after year and has a full roster for 2022-23 consisting of 4 seniors, 4 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 3 freshmen. With a year-round schedule, the golf team is constantly working hard to polish their skills in the fall to prepare for district competition in the spring. The Cardinals’ home course is The Bridges in Gunter, which frequently hosts professional events and prepares the Cardinal golfers to face any course they will encounter throughout the year.

“As the Golf season is starting up I am very confident in our team and its abilities,” junior Landon Newton said. “I am eager to see where this year takes us individually and as a team while we make the shift to a new district.”

Under Coach Chris Tyner, the golf teams has been highly successful for several years and this year looks to be no different. So if you would like to enjoy some nice fall weather, see some good swings and maybe even a couple of birdies, come out and support the Cardinal Golf Team.
