Cardinal Update

  • Congratulations to the varsity boys track team for finishing in 3rd place overall at the 5A District 13 Track Meet held April 12-13 at Lovejoy High School. Several athletes will move on to Area. The varsity girls finished in 6th place. Freshman Kennedy Branch qualified for Area in the 100m (3rd) and 200m (1st), and the 4×100 relay finished in 4th place. Click here to view all the results.
  • PROM 2023: This year’s prom with “A Night in New York” theme will be held April 29. Tickets are on sale through April 21 for $75, and then the price increases. Click here for more information–ticket sales, dress code, guest guidelines and more.
  • Course Requests for 2023-24 are now available to view in the student and parent portal of the Home Access Center (HAC). Students should view their schedules carefully and complete the MHS Course Change Request Form if changes are desired. The deadline to submit the form is May 12 at 4 p.m.
  • Yearbooks are still on sale for $75 through May 1. A limited quantity is available! Visit yearbookordercenter.com to purchase a book.
  • FREE College Hours: Collin College is going to offer again the “Reversing the Slide” tuition and fee waiver for qualified graduating seniors who plan to take classes this summer. This tuition and fee waiver will cover up to 6 credit hours for students graduating high school this spring (May/June) within the Collin College Service Area. Registration and the Reversing the Slide Application must be completed by May 3 at 12 p.m.to qualify. Click here for more info and the link to apply.
  • SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors, visit the MHS scholarships page frequently to earn money for college and even vocational training.
  • JUNIOR DAY: Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK (~1 hour from Melissa) is hosting Junior Day on April 22nd at their campus. This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in attending SE or who is still searching for the right fit for them. SE offers an out-of-state tuition waiver (~$4,000), so even if students don’t not live in Oklahoma, they would receive a significant discount. Click here for more info.

  • The Collin College McKinney Campus is hosting an Open House on Thursday, April 20 from 4-6 p.m. This is a great opportunity for students to visit the McKinney Campus and Health Sciences Center and receive program information for the various health sciences programs offered at Collin College.   • The City of McKinney – Parks & Recreation will be holding their last hiring event of the year on Sat., April 22, and would love for Melissa High School students to work with them. See the flyer below for more details.
