Help save a life this April by giving blood at MHS.

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, there is a national shortage of blood. High school blood drives are one of the primary sources for donations each year, but with the ongoing pandemic and many schools still closed throughout the U.S., blood is in short supply, and many lives are in critical danger.

Donors are the only source of blood for those in need of transfusion. You can help by giving blood at Melissa High School on April 14 from 8:35 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. in the main gym.

If you are interested in donating, you must wear a mask/face covering, and a photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card is required.

Red Cross will be testing for COVID-19 antibodies at the upcoming blood drive.

Youth donors who are 16-24 get a $10 e-gift card for a place you would like to eat or shop when you come to give blood April 1-30.

If you would like to make an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code “melissahs.”

Join volunteer blood donors in making a lifesaving difference this April during National Volunteer Month. Volunteer donors are the only source of blood and platelets for those in need of transfusions. There is no artificial substitute for blood. Blood is needed for accident victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell. Do you know someone who has never donated before? Please encourage them to make an appointment with you.
